To ensure the safety of our children’s products, each toy goes through various stages during its development. It all starts with an idea of our design- and product-development team. This idea will be evaluated by our product safety team in consideration of the European toy safety standard EN 71. It will also be checked if a safe handling for the respective target group is assured.
After that a first test sample will be ordered. For this step it is very important that the manufacturer is well informed about all the points that need to be considered concerning product safety. e.g. that a string can only have a certain length or that a star with rounded corners is much safer than one with sharp ones.
The first sample will be strictly examined by the product development team.
If the sample complies to all safety aspects it is passed on to a testing laboratory where workmanship, construction, materials and contents will be tested. As we want to stay independent we are working with different laboratories.
When the test sample meets all the requirements production will be started. Our suppliers commit to produce the products in the same quality as the test sample and with the same previously tested raw materials. In case a manufacturer does not have a certified supply chain (e.g. ISO 9001) production will be controlled. For the controlling of quality- and safety-standards we engage inspectors, auditors and laboratory-experts from external providers.
Similar to toy development every other product undergoes the above described process. No matter what kind of product it is, safety is always an important aspect for us. We want that all our customers – young and old – can enjoy our products for a long time and with a clear conscience.
A sustainable and ecologically efficient production is very important for us. For our books as well as for our wooden toys we focus on materials from certified cultivation. Our certified products carry the seal of the Forest Stewardship Council Initiative (FSC®).
A wide range ouf our textile products are made of fabrics which comply to the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.
Our toys are regularly recommended by spiel gut Arbeitsausschuß Kinderspiel + Spielzeug e.V. Toys which have been recognized with the spiel gut-seal meet on the one hand the review criteria of the expert panel and on the other hand passed the practical test with children. Therefore, toys carrying the spiel gut-seal are particularly suitable for children.
